With abundant forests and many hiking trails to peaceful lakeside sites, Forestburgh has plenty to offer for rest and a chance to get away from it all. Bald eagles, cross country skiing, and pristine nature! 15 historical marks throughout the town point out history, schools, railroads, churches and post offices. Designated areas preserve wildlife, especially for the bald eagle habitat along the Mongaup River on County Road 43 near Lumberland and on Plank Road South. Nine mile Swinging Bridge Reservoir offering motorboating, awesome fishing and swimming lies within the Forestburgh, Bethel and Thompson townships.
Hamlets include: Forestburg, Fowlerville, Hartwood, Hartwood Club, Merriewold Park, Philwold, St. Josephs, and Squirrels Corner.
